“Poets are born with a vision, impulse, rationality and later gifted with a power of expression and likewise these elements constituted a force field for the literary creations of late Shaukin Singh, a poet by passion and a journalist by profession,” opined HK Dua, Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune group of newspapers while releasing ‘Sehaj te Sangram’, a book of poems, by Shaukin at the Chandigarh Press Club today.

“Journalism, as a profession is very demanding. One marvels at Shaukin’s wisdom for maintaining an incredible balance between the mindset of romantic dreamer as well as a realist,” he said.

Dua hailed the spirit behind the venture of publishing the literary treatise immortalising the poet in Shaukin and complemented the efforts of Gobind Thukral, Dr Jaspal Singh, Rita Shaukin Singh, Sarabjit Pandher and press club management for its publication.

Chief guest Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat also shared his experiences with Shaukin. Proclaiming his admiration for the multifaceted genius and virtues of Shaukin as a kind-hearted man, Jagat called him a true protagonist of universal brotherhood.

Gobind Thukral and Dr Jaspal Singh, who edited the 132-paged book, analysed the contents in brief while Sumit Singh read out a few poems.
